If D-Day Were Today

I have saved this cartoon for years and even have it hanging on my fridge as a sober reminder of how far we have come as a country, and how far we have fallen.

We now have a Commander in Chief who closes the doors in Guantanemo and leaves open the gates for Isis in Yemen, Libya, and Iraq.  A massacre at Fort Hood, resulting in 14 deaths (not 13 as one of the victims was pregnant)  is called “work place violence.” Islamic Terrorism is referred to as “Violent Extremism.”  “The War on Terror” is over as drones conduct “Overseas Contingency Operations.” An organized attack on a french jewish deli, resulting in 3 deaths, is called “random.” The slaughter of 4 American’s in Benghazi by Islamic Terrorists, was blamed on an American.

Turn back, turn back, it’s too hard to fight Isis?

On February 3, 1994, at the RNC Annual Gala, Ronald Reagan proclaimed, “The Democrats may remember their lines, but how quickly they forget the lessons of the past.  I have witnessed five major wars in my lifetime, and I know how swiftly storm clouds can gather on a peaceful horizon.  The next time a Saddam Hussein takes over Kuwait, or North Korea brandishes a nuclear weapon, we will be ready to respond.  In the end it all comes down to leadership, and that is what this country is looking for now.”

21 years later, America, again,  is looking for a leader.

God bless our veterans, our soldiers and their families, on this 70th Anniversary of D-Day and every day.
