Hell freezes over: Jim Acosta and Morning Joe praise Trump’s D-Day speech

President Trump’s speech on Thursday honoring the brave Allied fighters who “stood in the fires of hell” on the 75th anniversary of D-Day drew unexpected acclaim from two of his biggest mainstream media critics: CNN’s Jim Acosta and MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough.

“This is perhaps the most on-message moment of Donald Trump’s presidency today. We were all wondering if he would veer from his remarks, go off of his script but he stayed on script, stayed on message and, I think, rose to the moment,” Acosta said on CNN immediately following the speech.

Elijah Cummings wife used her charity to enrich her for-profit company

House Oversight Chairman Elijah Cummings’s wife has funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars from her charity to her private for-profit organization, according to a previously undisclosed cost-sharing arrangement that multiple experts said raises red flags.

Maya Rockeymoore Cummings’s charity, the Center for Global Policy Solutions (CGPS), paid her for-profit venture, Global Policy Solutions LLC, over $250,000 in “management fees” between 2013 and 2015, according to the charity’s audited financial statements covering those years. The management fees were paid in addition to a cost-sharing agreement where the charity pays for its share of equipment, personnel and other expenditures.

As businesses rush to support abortion, Wendy’s raises money for adoption

Planned Parenthood frequently purports to be about “choice,” but only if the choice involves abortion. Although in 2018, just .03% of their services included adoption referrals (and even this must be questioned, as the corporation’s idea of “adoption referrals” is highly suspect), the abortion giant is frequently the recipient of lavish media and corporate support, while truly pro-life efforts like adoption get overlooked. Fast-food chain Wendy’s and its partner, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, has at its heart the interests of the children who are frequently trotted out as “reasons to abort” — those who are in foster care waiting to be adopted.

May Day: More than 55k children caught at the border

The government set another grim record in May with more than 55,000 children nabbed by Border Patrol agents along the southwest border.

They were part of more than 130,000 unauthorized migrants Border Patrol agents and officers at the ports of entry encountered last month, up from about 109,000 in April and far higher than the 51,000 or so nabbed in May 2018.

But even record overall numbers shield the true expanse of the crisis, officials said.

As much as 60 percent of agents’ time is now spent babysitting illegal immigrants rather than patrolling the border.

“Obviously, Soviet Union was an authoritarian society with no democratic rights, and I think if you know history, you know the democratic socialists fought and stood up against that,” the 2020 Democratic hopeful said.

“You can look at what existed in the Soviet Union or Venezuela, that is not what I’m talking about at all.”
